Ekaterina (orange) and Sierra (white) came to The Wildcat Sanctuary in 2010 with a number of other big cats after a facility in Texas that housed over 400 animals went bankrupt. But their story began before that. They were both kept by an exploitive breeder in Ohio who charged the public to pet and have photos taken with adult tigers that were chained down to platforms. A number of the tigers also had their canine teeth removed. The breeder was eventually closed down after multiple incidents of reported animal attacks on visitors. Sierra and Ekaterina were featured in an investigative report by 20/20. TWS offered to take them when the breeder walked away, leaving her tigers to starve, but they were sent to Texas instead.
