“Douala was rescued from a zoo in Québec, Canada, after authorities uncovered heartbreaking conditions and brought animal cruelty and neglect charges against the facility. More than 200 animals, including Douala, were found living in barren enclosures and suffering from malnourishment.
“Today, Douala’s story is one of hope and healing. The hardships she once endured are behind her. She now spends her days in a spacious, natural habitat where she can explore, rest, and thrive on her own terms. With the freedom to express her natural behaviors, Douala is finally able to enjoy what every lion deserves—the chance to simply be a lion.”
