Finalist in the 2026 Tigers in America-Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries annual photo and video contest to celebrate International Tiger Day.
“Calvin was born 2013 in Oklahoma at a notorious breeding facility, along with his brother Hobbes. They were pulled from their mother and used as photo cubs for the first 12 weeks of their lives then sold to a roadside zoo.”
Photo contest judge Jo-Anne McArthur particularly appreciated seeing a former “photo cub” captured in a very different way. She wrote:
I love that he’s not having to pose with anyone or look toward the camera, and he’s in a beautiful place doing his own thing. Still being photographed, beautifully and gently so, and not for profit!
