Second Chance to be a Tiger

Finalist in the 2022 Tigers in America-Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries annual photo and video contest to celebrate International Tiger Day.

Poncho was one of 115 animals rescued from Colorado, where sanctuaries from around the US came together to give them all a second chance at life. We believe this photo, easily confused for a tiger in the wild, represents everything we stand for in the sanctuary world. Poncho’s personality is described by keepers as “quiet, but destructive, and will tear apart any enrichment or objects in his habitat without remorse.” This is also a reminder to us all that these are wild animals.
