“White lion Gino was bred and born at a zoo in Argentina. His white lion parents had been imported from Africa for display. The inbreeding to create white lions has the same horrible effects in lions, as well as tigers. Though beautiful on the outside, Gino suffers from congenital hypothyroidism, has occasional seizures, stargazing, circling and nystagmus. Proper care costs have been astronomical, including university CT scans, lifelong medication and close veterinary care. Sadly, all this resulted so the public could view a ‘rare’ white lion at a zoo.”
