Created by the artist Sonny “Sundancer” Behan for International Tiger Day 2023, as part of the FOUR PAWS #BreakTheViciousCycle campaign to end the commercial trade of big cats.
Commissioned on the 50th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act, the mural raises awareness about protecting species in danger around the world, which includes big cats in the wild as well as those living in captivity in the U.S. It reminds us of the world we share with these incredible species and their rightful place in the wild.
The mural is 21 feet wide by 29 feet high and can be viewed at 188 Lafayette St in New York City. (In the foreground: Kristopher Hull, pianist errant.)
